  • Things that many American’s don’t know about the “Badoo” cult in Lagos, Nigeria. People living in Ikorodu, Lagos State have been under a cloud of fear since the Badoo cult members began their ritual killings. According to the International Center for Investigative Reporting (ICR) a criminal described by residents as a “serial ritual killer” was apprehended in Ikorodu on June 12, 2016 and his name was given as “Badoo”. According to the residents of Ikorodu, after every attack, he would write, “I am Badoo” and paste on the door of his victims. He continued in a seemingly invincible manner until he was caught after he molested and killed a 27 year old woman and her 9 month old child. Following the arrest a group of other people rose up and continued the killings- they came to be known as “Badoo.” The cult group carries a stone to use for their ritual killings and have also used clubs, household grinding stones, and mortars with pestles. According to a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police and chairman of the Lagos State Neighborhood Corp. “After they are done, they clean the blood with white clothes and they escape. This is bizarre and it is fetish and a ritual”.  Churches are easy targets for this cult group and has recently killed three people at a “Cherubim and Seraphim” church in Nigeria.

Alleged Ritual Suspect Arrested For Attempting To Murder American In Ikorodu

Weeks after news went rife on social media of the attempted murder of an American, Robert Wheelers, in Ikorodu community for ritual purposes; security operatives attached to the Zone 2 Police Command have arrested a suspect in connection with the event.

According to Police sources, a suspect, Orabe Philips Leo, a middle aged man, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder the victim. Recall that the suspect had allegedly lured his victim to Ikorodu where he tried to kill him.

According to reports, the victim had called the suspect to pick him up at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja when he arrived Nigeria based on their previous relationship.

The American was said to have first met the suspect when he came to Nigeria to work with the Tony Elumelu Foundation in 2015.

It was gathered that the suspect arrived Nigeria for an undisclosed business trip on August 25, 2017. He was then picked from the airport by the suspect who drove him straight to his residence at Adeniyi Street, Ikorodu, where he was to stay until his return to the United States. However, at midnight, the suspect allegedly attacked his visitor and left him in a pool of his own blood and fled.

At the time of the incident, Police sources and members of the Oyanbo vigilance team who spoke to InsideMainland quenched the reports of murder and ritual killings.

However, the suspect was reportedly arrested in his hideout in Ikorodu; weeks after the Police launched a manhunt for him when the case was reported at the Command.

The suspect was reportedly picked up and during interrogation by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Ibrahim Adamu, he confessed to have clubbed the victim’s head with a pestle three times.

In his confessional statement, he confirmed to have attempted to murder his visitor because he allegedly reneged on his promise to give him an unspecified amount of money.

“He refused to fulfill his promise to me after I had invested so much in my effort to get money from him.  I even consulted a white garment church where I was given a charm to use on the man. It would have worked but I got angry when the victim didn’t obey my instructions,” he told the Police.  Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in charge of Zone 2, SP Dolapo Badmos, said investigation was on the case.

China Ramps Up Christian Persecution After Two Missionaries Are Murdered

Chinese officials have repeatedly targeted the country’s Christians and destroyed more than 1,000 church crosses in  2015 and 2016.

After Muslim extremists murdered two Chinese missionaries, many hoped the Chinese government would take efforts to protect the country’s Christians. Instead, the government is cracking down on the spread of the gospel even more.

According to a BBC report, Meng Lisi and Li Xinheng  went to Balochistan, one of the most violent cities in Pakistan, to tell local Muslims about Jesus. However, they were met by violent extremists who murdered them in cold blood.

Now, the Chinese government is cracking down on Christians in their country. Chinese officials arrested four preachers from a church in the Zheijing province shortly after the murders. They later released them but they are banned from preaching the gospel and are prohibited from giving any media interviews.

Xinheng’s mother says she is “proud” of her son for sharing his faith, but is upset the Chinese government didn’t “save our children.”

Many suspect China’s economic interests in Pakistan are keeping them from condemning the terrorists who murdered its citizens. China is investing more than $55 billion in Pakistan, a key country in its plan to connect Asia and Europe with a new Silk Road.

Experts also say China’s atheistic government views its Christian missionaries as a problem.

“They thought Christianity was a western religion imported into China, so how can you export Christianity from China?” Says Fenggang Yang, an expert on religion in China at Purdue University.

“This is new and the Chinese authorities are still struggling to figure out what to do with this,” he added.

Chinese officials have repeatedly targeted the country’s Christians and destroyed more than 1,000 church crosses in  2015 and 2016.

However, despite the crackdown, the recent murders of the two Chinese missionaries reveals that not only is the church in China alive and well, believers are even trying to take the gospel beyond the country’s borders and to some of the most hostile parts of the world.

Abortion Clinics Offer Free Abortions to Hurricane Harvey Victims

Whole Women’s Health, one of the nation’s leading abortion providers, is offering free abortions to Hurricane Harvey victims.

“Unfortunately, we know all too well that abortion can be difficult to access in some parts of the country, especially Texas,” Whole Women’s Heath said on its blog. “During Hurricane Harvey, many of the clinics in Houston had to close temporarily, leaving women with very few options.”

“We’re offering NO-COST abortions to those affected by Hurricane Harvey,” the organization said.

According to the Dallas Morning News, nearly 80 women have already taken up the abortion provider on its offer, or are scheduled to do so soon.

But while the women may see the procedure as a free service, Texas Right to Life says “there is always a cost” to having an abortion.

“The promotion of this heinous no-cost service is riddled with fallacies because abortion is never free,” Texas Right to Life spokesperson Melissa Conway told Baptist Press. “There is always a cost to abortion. Women are not free from the emotional toll that ensues after abortion and the child is certainly not free to live another day. Abortions, just like the catastrophic effects of the hurricane, are never free and we as a community pay the price for their needless destruction.”

Conway also says now is the time for Christians to “be the hands and feet of Christ” and help pregnant women in need.
